Tears of Llorona is a rare, small batch, extra añejo Tequila, aged five years in oak barrels that have previously held scotch, sherry, and brandy. This unique triple barreling and extra-long aging creates a complex, layered fusion that is more like a cognac or a very old whiskey, yet it retains clear agave notes. Master Distiller Germán Gonzalez harvests only high altitude, late season blue agaves from the volcanoes in Jalisco, known for their high sugar content.

Germán Gonzalez is considered by aficionados and critics to be one of the best master tequileros alive. Making tequila has been a generational family passion for Germán. He was taught his craft by his father, Guillermo Gonzalez Diaz Lombardo, with whom he worked on what is now considered the first true super premium tequila to be imported to the United States -- the Chinaco tequila from early 1990's fame -- as well as the inspiration for today's hand crafted tequilas.

Amelia J. ★★★★★

I was skeptical about the price, but after tasting how the oak and sherry notes blend so smoothly, I'm glad I splurged. The triple barrel aging really makes this extra añejo feel incredibly rich and complex.

Joseph ★★★★☆

The triple-barrel aging really comes through in the complexity of the flavor—it's smooth but has layers I didn't expect. Only knocked off a star because the price stings a bit for a bottle this size.

Amelia Z. ★★★☆☆

The triple-barreled aging gives it a complex flavor with hints of sherry and scotch, but for the price point I expected a smoother finish. It's good for sipping, just not mind-blowing.
