Uruapan Blended Añejo Rum - 750ml

This single blended rum is 50% estate grown cane juice distilled on a copper pot still, and 50% molasses distilled on a modified French style column still. The sugarcane varietal is Saccharum Officinarum, grown at 4180 feet above sea level in red volcanic soil. Bottled at 46% ABV. This "Rum" is a protected denomination of origin spirit from Mexico known as Charanda. Made in the State of Michoacán in the vicinity of the prominently agricultural City of Uruapan. Named after a hill range in the area called 'Cerro de la Charanda' where the first distillery was built in the region, Charanda is a term in Purépecha language meaning 'red-colored soil'.

• D.O., single estate-grown sugarcane cultivated over 4,000 feet above sea level and pressed using a water-powered mill
• Blend of 50% fresh pressed sugarcane and 50% molasses
• Fresh cane sees open-air fermentation for 11 days; molasses close-fermented for 48 hours
• Cane juice distilled twice in 1,000-liter, wood-fired, copper pot stills
• Molasses distilled using a short, French-style column still
• Aged for 22 months in ex-bourbon barrels
• Uruapan Charanda’s signature bright, tropical fruit flavors are enveloped in a warming, confectionary embrace of clove and toasted coconut with a whisp of smoke and banana esters on the finish
